Blue Yellow Macaw

I made this painting because my mom asked me to paint a parrot. I only made animals with hair like Lions and Tigers, so painting feathers was something I never did before. I finished this painting on August 23, 2023

I wanted to challenge myself so I searched for beautiful pictures of parrots and came with a beautiful blue Macaw.

I wanted to paint the side of the face so I drew the proportions and colors from different pictures of the animal.

When I was satisfied with the sketch, I projected the sketch on the big canvas. That way, I wasn’t waisting any time to start painting.

I love the process of the painting because I learned a lot of new techniques I could use in other paintings in the future.

In this painting, I used cheap paint because I didn’t have the colors for the expensive paint. So I used more paint than the previous paintings, because the paint was more transparant.

In the end, I think this painting turned out even better than the lion and tiger painting I made before. This painting took me around 25 hours to finish, not the sketching included. The sketching was around 4 hours.

Below are behind the scenes pictures and a timelapse video from my YouTube channel.
